Thank you for using StudyFlow. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, and the rights you have over your data.
This Policy applies to the StudyFlow mobile application (the "App") available on the Google Play Store, and to all related features and services offered through the App.
By downloading or using StudyFlow, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Who We Are:
StudyFlow ("we", "us", or "our") is an AI-powered exam preparation and study planning application. StudyFlow is an independent product and is not a registered legal entity at this time. For all privacy-related enquiries, you may contact us at the details provided at the end of this Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following ways:
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
• Name and date of birth — collected during onboarding to personalise your study experience.
• Email address and password credentials — used to create and secure your account (managed through our authentication provider, Clerk).
• Country of residence — used to tailor content and comply with applicable laws.
• Exam name and subjects — used to generate your personalised AI syllabus and daily study plan.
• Profile picture — optionally uploaded during onboarding.
• Uploaded PDFs and images — documents or photos you upload for AI-powered evaluation and study assistance (e.g., photos of handwritten notes or printed study material). These are stored securely in your personal storage folder.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
• Device information — device type, operating system version, and app version.
• Usage data — features you use, pages you visit within the App, study session durations, test scores, and interaction patterns.
• Push notification tokens — used solely to deliver local study reminders based on your timetable. We do not use these for marketing.
2.3 Information from Third Parties:
• If you sign up or log in via a third-party account (e.g., Google), we receive basic profile information permitted by that service (typically your name and email address).
• YouTube Data API — used to surface relevant educational video content within the App. We do not collect or store your YouTube account data.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
• To create and manage your account and authenticate your identity.
• To generate your personalised AI syllabus, daily study plan, flashcards, quizzes, revision notes, and practice problems.
• To process and evaluate PDFs and images you upload for AI-assisted study support.
• To answer your doubts in real time using our AI-powered Q&A assistant.
• To send you local push notifications reminding you of scheduled study sessions.
• To track your study progress, test performance, and learning trends.
• To manage your subscription status and provide premium features.
• To improve and optimise the App, diagnose technical issues, and enhance user experience.
• To comply with applicable legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We may use anonymised and aggregated data — data that cannot identify you individually — to understand usage patterns, improve our AI features, and develop new study tools. This aggregated data does not include your raw uploaded content.
4. AI-Generated Content & Third-Party AI Services
StudyFlow uses third-party artificial intelligence and machine learning services to provide core features, including generating study notes, flashcards, quizzes, written questions, revision materials, weekly tests, syllabus structures, and to evaluate your uploaded documents and images.
When you use these AI-powered features, relevant inputs — such as your chosen exam, subject, chapter name, or uploaded files — are transmitted to our AI service provider(s) for processing. These providers are bound by confidentiality agreements and are only permitted to use your data to provide the requested service.
We do not use your uploaded content or personally identifiable information to train AI models for the benefit of third parties. AI-generated content (notes, flashcards, quizzes, etc.) is created on your behalf and remains accessible to you within the App.
Please note that AI-generated content may not always be perfectly accurate. You should independently verify important information before relying on it for academic purposes.
5. How We Share Your Information
StudyFlow does not sell your personal information. We do not have in-app advertising or marketing pixel tracking. We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
5.1 Service Providers
We share information with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate the App, including:
• Authentication provider — to manage secure sign-up and login.
• Cloud database and file storage provider (Supabase) — to store your account data, study content, and uploaded files.
• AI service provider(s) — to process inputs and generate study content on your behalf.
• Subscription and payment management provider (RevenueCat) — to manage your subscription. Actual payment transactions are processed by the Google Play Store (and in future, the Apple App Store).
• Analytics provider — to help us understand App usage and improve performance (e.g., Google Analytics, to be activated post-launch).
All service providers are contractually required to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify.
5.2 Business Transfers
If StudyFlow is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and any choices you may have.
5.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of StudyFlow, our users, or the public.
6. Data Storage and Retention
Your data is stored on secure cloud servers provided by Supabase. Your account authentication data is managed by Clerk. Both providers implement industry-standard security measures.
We retain your personal information for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide you with the App's services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain data by applicable law.
7. Data Security
We take the security of your personal information seriously. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, including:
• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) between the App and our servers.
• Secure, access-controlled cloud storage for all user files.
• Authentication token management through a dedicated, secure authentication provider.
• Per-user isolated storage folders for uploaded content.
Despite our efforts, no security system is completely impenetrable. In the event of a data breach that affects your rights and freedoms, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
8. Children's Privacy
StudyFlow is designed for students aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under the age of 13 has provided personal information to us without your consent, please contact us immediately at the address below. We will take prompt steps to delete such information from our records.
Users between the ages of 13 and 18 are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy with a parent or guardian before using the App.
9. Your Rights Over Your Data
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. In general, you have the right to:
• Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correction — request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Deletion — request that we delete your personal data and account.
• Portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Objection — object to certain processing activities, such as the use of your data for analytics.
• Withdrawal of Consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the address provided in Section 12. We will respond to your request within 30 days or as required by applicable law.
9.1 India — Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023
If you are located in India, your personal data is processed in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA). You have the right to access, correct, and erase your personal data, and to nominate a representative for the exercise of these rights in the event of your incapacity. You may also raise a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India if you believe your rights have been violated.
9.2 European Users (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. We process your personal data on the legal bases of contractual necessity (to provide the App's services), legitimate interests (to improve and secure the App), and consent (where specifically requested).
9.3 California Users (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
10. Push Notifications
StudyFlow sends local push notifications to remind you of scheduled study sessions based on your personalised timetable. These notifications are functional and are not used for marketing or advertising purposes.
You can enable or disable push notifications at any time through your device's system settings. Disabling notifications will not affect your ability to use the App.
11. Third-Party Links and Services
The App integrates with the YouTube platform to display educational video content. This integration is subject to YouTube's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. StudyFlow does not control and is not responsible for YouTube's data practices.
We do not include advertising networks, marketing pixels, or third-party tracking in the App.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our App, legal requirements, or industry practices. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Policy and, where appropriate, through an in-app notification.
Your continued use of StudyFlow after the updated Policy becomes effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
